How to remove make-up properly? Remove eye make-up - this is how it's done!

Do you put on makeup every day? Then it’s also very important that you remove it every evening! No matter how long the day or night has been, always remove your makeup thoroughly in the evening, because only then can your skin breathe and recover.

Here you’ll learn how to quickly and easily remove your makeup without irritating your skin.

Makeup removal products:

There are many different makeup removal products. Which ones you should not use, you’ll find out here:

  • Do not use oil-based products for makeup removal, as they usually contain Paraffinum Liquidum. While they remove makeup quickly, they leave an oily film on the eyes. Often, your vision will be very blurry afterward. Over time, it can even clog the tear gland. Also, if you don’t dab off and remove the oily film after using oil-based removers, your eye area might still be so oily the next morning that Mascara, eyeliner, etc., won’t hold well and will smudge.

  • Do not use wet wipes, as they are not good for your skin or the environment. They contain preservatives to keep them moist in the package, and these ingredients have no place on your skin! They make your skin very dry. Additionally, they are bad for the environment and need to be constantly repurchased.

  • Do not use disposable makeup removal pads! They are not environmentally friendly, and you waste a lot of money because you have to keep buying them.

Here are the makeup removal products we recommend:

  • Use reusable makeup removal cloths: For example, a simple washcloth or microfiber makeup removal cloths, etc. Why? Because they are very effective, gentle, and easy to use for removing makeup. And because you can simply wash them with your laundry and reuse them again and again. This saves a lot of money in the long run. They are also very gentle on the skin. There are many different products available online or at drugstores. Try out which makeup removal cloth works best for you.

  • Often, just warm water is enough to remove makeup with a makeup removal cloth. Water is the best and gentlest way to cleanse your face! Especially if you have allergies and need to be careful with certain ingredients.

If your eye makeup doesn’t come off with water alone, then use some cleansing foam. It’s very gentle and will even gently remove waterproof eye makeup!

Here’s how to do it step by step:

1) First, tie your hair back so it doesn’t fall into your face.

2) Moisten your face with warm water first.

3) Apply 2-3 pumps of cleansing foam to your closed eyes, face, neck, and décolleté. Let it sit briefly.

4) Massage and wash the cleansing foam in with a washcloth, makeup removal cloth, or microfiber cloth.

Tip: Don’t rub too hard, as the thin skin around the eyes is especially sensitive. If you rub and scrub strongly, the delicate skin under your eyes will be very stressed and your eyes will be red afterward. So let the foam sit briefly first, then gently wipe over with the makeup removal cloth.

5) Then rinse off with water.

6) Dry with a fresh, clean towel. Not with a dirty towel you’ve been using all week, as it may already contain bacteria. This is important if you struggle with pimples, for example.

Tip: Don’t use the same towel you use all day for your hands to dry your face in the evening! Use a small guest towel just for your face at night and, if possible, use each side only once.

Gentle cleansing foam

Your skin won’t feel dry after removing makeup with the cleansing foam. Therefore, you don’t necessarily have to use a cream afterward.
Did you know: If you always apply a lot of cream to your skin, it will stop producing its own oils, and eventually, you won’t be able to do without cream. So here’s a tip: try using less cream or just a light cream so your skin can get used to managing with fewer products again.

Birgit Pampel

Ich benutze nur Mizellenwasser. Was haltet ihr davon.
